Kingdom Time Entertainment presented the 10th annual KCA weekend in New York City and the word around the globe is that it was another amazing presentation of CHH and Urban Christian culture.
The weekend kicked off with the Pre-Show event which was themed the “Lyrical Melee” which featured CHH conglomerates, Hog Mob (California) and Good Fight Coalition (New York). The event was a super high energy, bar fest. The opening acts started off the night and GFC took the stage with ferocious energy that made it clear that GFC is the new movement coming out of New York City.
Hog Mob took the stage and delivered a power packed set that shifted the atmosphere. The combination of West Coast vibes, Buffalo lyricism and raw passion for ministry, hit hard. The night ended with a heartfelt testimony and prayer from Hog Mob member Dante. This was followed by a short exhortation from Kingdom Time CEO, Marcus Hall. It was a dope kick off to the weekend!
The following day the globe was focused on the main stage, which for the first time, was being hosted at Church City USA, formerly known as the world famous Emergency Room. By 6:00pm, artists and patrons began arriving to Church City for the KCA Red Carpet event which was being hosted outside of the venue. The red carpet hosts, Colin Smith, Bam and Stacey Pompey, interviewed an array artists and industry legends.

By 7:15pm DJ Ty King wrapped up his super dope set and the KCA host (Richard Dauphin) was introduced to the stage. The screen lit up with an intro graphic video and Dauphin hit the stage with his potent single “RMG“. KCA was live and for the first time, it was globally live for the world to experience in real time.

Throughout the night, 15 categories were presented and we were blessed by a plethora of amazing performances. One of the highlights of the night was a classic performance by Corey Red and Precise. It has been many years since NYC has seen the two legends on stage together. The two brought the same raw style that they’ve always been known for.

New comer Cellus Hamilton delivered a stellar performance that made it clear to the audience why he won the “Up Next” award. His lyrical flow, cadence and stage presence depicted the aura of a star. Look out for this guy.

Brea Miles came from the Carolina’s and delivered a high energy set. She hit the stage with her hot new single “Spicy“, it definitely had the KCA audience rocking. Her second song “Crazy Faith” featured a surprise appearance by CHH veteran Heesun Lee. It was a great set!

As always Brinson had a great set. He was accompanied by his label mate and protege Oatmeal and he brought out Steven Malcolm to perform their smash collaboration “Faith In The Sky“. It was super dope!

Another surprise for the night was the Nyth Inning set when he brought out NYC CHH veteran J.A.Z, who many haven’t seen on stage for quite some time. He ended the set with one of his classic anthems “We Got It“. You couldn’t help feeling that warm fuzzy feeling that reminded you of the golden era of CHH.

A moment that rocked the house was the KCA Caribbean Segment where Reggae/Soca Gospel artists Eddie Neblett, Emrand Henry and Dwayne Fyah (KCA Reggae Gospel winner) delivered an amazing set. The Caribbean energy was pulsating and the KCA patrons showed their appreciation for the special performance.

The KCA Cypher featured God Kidz (Brooklyn) and Hog Mob (Cali), it was a solid Cypher. Word on the street is that the solo female in the cypher, stole the show. Pristavia most definitely made her presence felt this year. Not only did she kill the cypher, she also killed her opening set. Pristavia is making most of her noise on the battle rap scene. However, she showed that she has the potential to have an impact as an artist. Let’s see what 2022 brings.
The honorary presentation to CHH veteran K-Drama was the most heart moving moment of the night. Brinson shared some kind, sincere words about his comrade and the biographic video was played. A tearful K-Drama was clearly touched by the presentation. Drama expressed his gratitude, shared his heart and some experiences. He then performed two songs, one being his super hit “Air Jordan”. It was a joyous moment!

Another great performance was by 3 time nominee Redeemed. Many who may not know who Redeemed is may have questioned his multiple nominations. However, after seeing his performance, all naysayers had to swallow their spit. Redeemed’s performance was everything a great performance needed to be. Look out world there’s a new trailblazer coming out of New York City.
Steven Malcolm (KCA winner) delivered a short but epic performance that left the audience yearning for more. He is a complete artist who makes an epic performance look effortless. Xay Hill (KCA Urban Singer winner) delivered a super dope performance, he’s destined for greatness!
(Xay Hill and Steven Malcolm)
In typical KCA style, the night was ended with worship that was lead by Bronx, NY worship leader Diana Marie. It was absolutely powerful. All the glory went right back to where it all belongs, to the Most High God.
KCA CEO and Visionary, Marcus Hall came out to thank patrons and Team KCA and as usual shared a quick word. He took a moment to give a special thank you to the Pastor of Church City USA, CHH veteran Richie Righteous. He thanked Richie for getting behind the KCA wholeheartedly and for going above and beyond to help make the KCA a success. Marcus then invited Rich to the stage to close it out. Pastor Rich shared some words and had an exchange of banter with Marcus Hall as he shared about their reconciliation after years of separation due to a fall out. It was a funny, heart warming moment. Richie closed in prayer and that was it, a weekend that will go down in the history books was over.

For the first time since its birth, the KCA was hosted outside of the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts. Many wondered what the KCA experience would be like at Church City USA. However, Kingdom Time Entertainment enhanced the production in various ways and Team Church City put their best foot forward and together they put on what many might say was the best KCA to date!
